Frequently asked questions

Everything people ask before booking us — where we operate, what your venue needs, ages, prices and cancellations. If yours isn't here, message us and we'll answer it.

Where are you based?

We're based in East Sussex, but we're a mobile operation — we don't have our own premises, so we come to you. We cover East Sussex and the surrounding area; if you're further out, ask and we'll tell you honestly whether we can get to you.

Do I need to provide the venue?

Yes. Because we're mobile, your session runs at a venue of your choosing — a function room, village hall, marquee, hotel suite or office. Any hire arrangement needs to be made with the venue owner's permission, so please get that agreed before confirming with us.

What does the venue need?

Enough indoor space to shoot across, somewhere to project onto, and mains power. If you're not sure the room you have in mind will work, ask us before you commit to anything and we'll tell you straight.

Do I need any experience?

None at all. Most people who book have never handled anything like this before. Your instructor starts with the fundamentals — stance, grip, sight picture, trigger control — and only adds pressure once you're comfortable.

Are these real firearms?

No. We use non-lethal airsoft replica pistols and rifles fitted with infrared laser barrels and attachments. They're realistic in weight, handling, trigger and recoil — which is what makes the training transfer — but nothing leaves the muzzle, and no ammunition of any kind is carried or permitted at any session.

How old do I have to be?

Our minimum age is 12, in line with the majority of other UK sites. Anyone under 18 must be supervised by an appropriate adult, and a parent or guardian must be present with them for the whole of the allotted time slot.

Can I drop my child off and come back?

No. A parent or guardian must be with any under-18 for the entire allotted time slot. This is a legal requirement around the supervision of airsoft replicas, not a house preference.

How many people can we bring?

Anything from one person up to a group of ten. Prices are set per group and per session length — see the price list.

How long is a session?

One, two, three or four hours. Longer sessions mean more drills, more scenarios and more coaching time rather than the same content stretched out.

What does it cost?

Range sessions start at £45 for one person for an hour, and every price shown is the total for the group rather than per head. One-to-one training starts at £75 an hour. The full price list is here.

How do I pay?

All bookings must be paid for in advance. Your slot is confirmed once payment has been received.

What's your cancellation policy?

Cancel at least 48 hours before your allocated time slot and you'll be refunded in full minus a 10% admin fee. Cancellations made with less than 48 hours' notice result in forfeit of the full payment. If SimFire Academy cancels your booking, you are refunded in full.

What if something gets damaged?

Any damage to equipment or related equipment must be paid for — this is a condition of entry for all clients. Where an adult is supervising an under-18, that adult is financially responsible for any damage the minor causes.

What should I wear?

Comfortable clothes you can move in and closed-toe footwear. No sandals or open shoes on the range.

Do I need to bring anything?

Just yourself — and a parent or guardian if you're under 18. Every piece of equipment comes with us as part of your session.

How long do you need to set up?

We arrive ahead of your slot and set everything up before your allotted time starts, so the session begins when it's meant to. We'll agree access times with you when the booking is confirmed.

Can you run a competition or a tournament for us?

Yes. Because every shot is scored automatically we can run individual ladders, team totals or head-to-head knockouts. Tell us the format you'd like when you enquire.

Do you use rifles as well as pistols?

Yes. We run both — non-lethal replicas on licensed platforms, all recoil-enabled and all fitted with infrared laser barrels. Tell us what your group would like to shoot when you enquire.

Is it suitable if I'm not especially fit or mobile?

Generally yes — it's indoors, low impact and can be shot from a seated position. If you've got a specific concern, ask us before booking and we'll tell you honestly whether we can accommodate it.
